As you can see this page shows pictures and gives information about the
basic American Civil War Weapons.
Above is a picture of a Colt 6-Shot revolver. This weapon contains a chamber, which is where the ammunition
is loaded; a hammer, the thing you pull back in order to switch to a live bullet; a trigger guard, which is used to protect
your trigger finger; and the handle, which is where you grip the weapon. This weapon was most commonly used either as
a sidearm or while on a horse in the cavalry.
This is the basic weapon that was used in the Civil War. This is the
Springfield Combat Rifle. It consists of a hammer, a trigger, a trigger guard, and a stock; which is used for long range
firing.
